Lauren Fu is a Singaporean pianist, educator and accompanist. She graduated from the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) - Royal College of Music, London with a Bachelors of Music (Hons).
At NAFA, she studied with Ms Lena Ching (Deputy Associate Dean), throughout her diploma and degree years. Additionally, she has played in masterclasses with Prof. Andreas Weber, Claudius Tanski (Mozarteum), Nigel Clayton, Ilya Kondratiev (Royal College of Music), Philip Smith (Steinway Artist). These have greatly broadened her understanding and appreciation of Western Classical Music.
Lauren has performed at venues such as the Victoria Concert Hall and Esplanade Concourse, and has participated in many competitions such as the Nanyang International Music Competition (2021: Bronze, 2019: Silver), and the Nanyang International Piano Academy Competition (2019, 2021: Gold). Besides developing her skills as a soloist, she has grown as a chamber musician by being an active accompanist for vocalists, string and wind instrumentalists, happy to share the stage with them for performances and competitions.
Lauren's musical journey started at the age of 5, when her parents gladly signed her up for lessons to refine her incessant tinkling away at the keys. Prior to NAFA, she has been grateful to be under the tutelage of late pianist and pedagogue Mr Ong Lip Tat, then under Mr Sim Keng Boon to attain her Licentiate diploma (Trinity College London). Along the way, Lauren has also taken interest in other music genres, singing in community choirs and playing in wind bands as a percussionist. Her latest exploration involves composing music for theatre, of which her sound design was selected to premiere at Centre 42's Black Box.
